One of the subjects we get asked about most frequently is how to become a mystery shopper, so we thought we’d add some hints and tips on how to get started and maybe bust a few myths along the way.
Tip 1: There are lots of companies out there who simply can’t get enough mystery shoppers, right? Wrong. But there are companies who are looking for good mystery shoppers. Our Industry Induction Training course will help you stand out from the thousands of mystery shopper applicants companies receive. It will also teach you much more about the other aspects of the face-to-face marketing industry, incredibly useful as the vast majority of companies prefer to recruit field staff who will carry out other types of work as well as mystery shopping.
Tip 2: Register with lots of agencies. Type ‘mystery shopping company UK’ into Google and you’ll get over 6 million results; almost none of which are from companies who can actually offer you work. Our directory of mystery shopping agencies is constantly updated and includes over 150 companies in the UK and Ireland who offer this type of work. From here you can search for companies who offer work in your area, read about what they're looking for from their field staff and find out how to register with them for work.
Tip 3: Once you’ve registered with agencies don’t just wait for jobs to come to you. Start by searching our mystery shopper jobs.
Tip 4: If there's ever anything you're unsure about and want a second opinion, our team have a huge amount of experience in the UK mystery shopping industry (our Chief Exec ran a mystery shopping agency for 10 years and is also Chairman of the UK industry Council). So please feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to give you any advice and guidance you might need.
